Chad Pregracke, CEO of Living Lands and Waters, will be the featured speaker at Illinois State University's Earth Week Reception, Wednesday, April 21, from 5:30 - 7 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Prairie Room. The event is free and open to the public.
In 1998 at the age of 23, Pregracke founded Living Lands and Waters, a not-for-profit organization based in East Moline, Illinois, and dedicated to cleaning up and preserving the nation's rivers. Since then, Pregracke, his crew, and more than 60,000 volunteers have collected over six million pounds of debris from the nation's greatest rivers. The Earth Week Reception will also feature information and displays on Illinois State's green accomplishments and sustainability initiatives, a delicious array of hors d'oeuvres, and a drawing to win a native Illinois tree. The event is sponsored by University Housing Services and the Association of Residence Halls Sustainability.
