In celebration of Children's Book Week and Preservation Week, Illinois State University's Milner Library will present an exhibition of historic posters illustrated by children's authors and a display on library preservation techniques. The displays will run from May 10 through Sept. 17 on floor one of the library. Both are free and open to the public.
In honor of Children's Book Week, May 10 - 16, Milner Library will display copies of 17 historic Children's Book Week posters, dating from the 1930s to the 1980s. The posters, used to promote the yearly celebration of children's literature and reading, were illustrated by many well-known children's authors. The posters selected for display are part of a collection of more than 70 that were recently donated to Milner Library.
The American Library Association's first annual Preservation Week will be May 9 - 15. In observance of the week, Milner Library will present an educational display on conservation techniques used to preserve library resources. The display will also highlight the techniques used to preserve the Children's Book Week posters in Milner's collection.
