The next work week will begin and end with jazz concerts at Illinois State University.
The first is at 8 p.m. Monday, April 12, in Kemp Recital Hall and is free and open to the public. Two jazz combos comprised of students in the School of Music will perform works by George Gershwin, Dave Hagelganz, John Coltrane and many others. Tom Marko and Paul Nolen of the Music faculty will direct the combos.
At 8 p.m. Friday, April 16, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall, ISU Jazz Ensembles I and II will perform music of composers Matt Harris, the Yellowjackets, Maynard Ferguson, Steve Wiest, Bob Berg, Bobby Shew, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock and others. Marko will direct. Tickets are $4 to $6 and are available at the CPA box office.
