Three Illinois State University students and residents of University Housing have been awarded scholarships for the Fall 2010 semester.
Katherine Clausing of Mattoon has received the Manchester Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established in 1974 in memory of Orson and Flora Manchester by their four daughters. Orson Manchester was a teacher, principal of University High School and dean at Illinois State for 37 years. He was also Mayor of Normal for 10 years. This $750.00 scholarship is given annually to a Manchester Hall resident who has show superior scholarship, citizenship, leadership and participation in hall and campus activities.
Katie LaMagdeleine of Grayslake has received the Unity Coalition Scholarship. The Unity Coalition identifies and addresses the cultural and educational needs of students living in residence halls. The $500 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Unity Coalition member who has shown a commitment to the goals and objectives of Unity, as well as demonstrated leadership ability while serving as a member.
Matthew Sanders of East Alton has received the Garrett Van Ausdall Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established in 1964 in memory of Garrett Van Ausdall, a Dunn Hall graduate counselor, in recognition of his service to students. This $100 scholarship is given annually to an outstanding undergraduate male student leader who has demonstrated dedication, leadership, citizenship, scholarship and active participation in residence hall and campus activities.
