If Mom is hoping for something shiny and sparkly on Mother's Day (May 9), the answer might be to attend the ISU Glass House annual Mother's Day glass sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 1.
Conducted by art students at Illinois State University, the sale features blown, cast and flame-worked glass vessels and sculptures, which will be available at reasonable prices. Admission to the sale is free and open to the public. Half of the proceeds raised will benefit the glass program's visiting artist fund. For several years, renowned international glass artists have spent a week instructing and working with glass students in the School of Art.
The Glass House is located at the northwest corner of Main and Willow streets in Normal, just north of Hancock Stadium. Parking is plentiful.
