Professor Jin Lee of Illinois State University's School of Art has a solo exhibition of her photography at devening projects + editions, a Chicago art gallery. " floating world" brings together work from two recent projects, "Small Mountains" and "Lake Effect," to create a series of photographs that evoke a deep sense of time that extends far beyond the present.
The photos, which Lee took in areas around Lake Michigan during winter seasons, examine various effects of the presence of a large body of water, from the gray clouds that cover the sky to the piles of salt gathered to combat lake effect snow.
devening projects + editions is located at 3039 W. Carroll in Chicago and is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and by appointment. "floating world" opens with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, and runs through Oct. 8.
