Alexander Hamilton Traveling Exhibit at Milner Library, Oct. 16 - Dec. 5

Illinois State University's Milner Library will host the traveling exhibit, "Alexander Hamilton: The Man Who Made Modern America," from Oct. 16 through Dec. 5.  The large panel exhibit examines Hamilton's central role during the Revolutionary War and his work in creating the economic, constitutional and foreign policies of modern America. 

An opening reception for the exhibit will be held on Oct. 17 from 6-8 p.m. on the Main Floor of Milner Library.  The exhibit and the opening reception are both free and open to the public.

The national traveling exhibit is organized by the New York Historical Society, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the American Library Association and is made possible in part through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

A lecture series about Hamilton's role in American history will coincide with the exhibit.  Admission to lecture series events is free.  Other community activities in Bloomington-Normal have been scheduled in connection with the exhibit.  For a complete listing of events visit www.library.ilstu.edu/hamilton

Historical interpreter Timothy Connors will present "A Discussion with Alexander Hamilton" on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.  Susan Westbury, an Illinois State assistant professor emerita of history, will present "Hamilton the Warrior" on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.  On Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., Robert Bradley, Illinois State professor of politics and government, will present "Hamilton's Legacy for Judicial Review."  All lectures will take place on the Main Floor of Milner Library.
