"Illinois' Homeland Security Strategy" will be the topic of a presentation by Andrew Velasquez III, director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, on Friday, Oct. 17, from 2-3:30 p.m. in Illinois State University's Schroeder Hall Room 242. The event is free and open to the public.
Velasquez received his bachelor's degree in 1993 and his master's degree in 1994 in criminal justice sciences at Illinois State. In 2007, he was appointed director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. He oversees Illinois' disaster preparedness and response, nuclear safety and homeland security programs, and serves as homeland security advisor to the governor.
