An exhibition of student works from two School of Art courses in integrated media are on exhibit in the University Galleries at Illinois State University through Wednesday, Nov. 26. Admission is free and open to the public.
Both studio courses deal with a set of ideas central to this discipline and incorporate a cross-section of new media practices related to photography, the moving image, performance art, interactive and participatory art, community art and art in physical and virtual public spaces.
Integrated Media bridges electronic technologies and more traditional 2D, 3D and 4D mediums for art production. The courses, taught by Pat Badani, investigate the relationship between emerging and existing media, forms of visual culture, visual representation, and the circulation and effect of images and their significance. The courses incorporate theory and practice to study the technological, historical, theoretical and socio-cultural foundations of digital art.
