"Food Safety: An Important Ingredient for Your Thanksgiving Meal" will be the topic of a presentation by Julie Schumacher from Illinois State University's Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, Thursday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m. at Illinois State's Alumni Center, 1101. N. Main, Normal.
Schumacher's presentation, sponsored by Illinois State's College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST), is free and open to the public. The CAST in Focus event, which showcases research and faculty expertise in the College, will begin at 4 p.m. with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
Schumacher is an instructional assistant professor in Illinois State's Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. She will discuss ways to prevent food-borne illnesses through proper handling and cooking of foods such as turkey, stuffing and other traditional Thanksgiving favorites.
