Walter Freeman of the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, will give a colloquium titled "Consciousness, Intentionality, and Causality" at 7 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 19, at the Chateau Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington. Admission is free and open to the public. An open reception will follow from 8 to 9 p.m.
Freeman's colloquium is sponsored by the Department of Psychology, The College of Arts and Sciences, The Fell Trust, The Institute for Frontier Areas in Psychology and Mental Health and the Institute for Prospective Cognition at Illinois State University. It is organized by the Institute for Prospective Cognition (IPC) in the Department of Psychology.
The IPC is a brand new institute, sanctioned by both the Department of Psychology and the College of Arts and Sciences. It is housed in Psychology, but will ultimately involve faculty from all over the university.
