Try your hand at juggling, challenge yourself on the tightrope, or take a swing on the trapeze at the Gamma Phi Circus Open House on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 1-3pm in the Horton Field House South Gym. The event is free and open to the public.
To celebrate the kick-off of its 80th birthday in 2009, Illinois State University's Gamma Phi Circus is holding the open house to demonstrate circus acts and give grownups and children a chance to try juggling, wire walking, Russian swing, trapeze and other circus skills. Gamma Phi Circus and Junior Gamma Phi Circus troupe members will be on hand at the open house. Children who wish to participate in the circus skills exploration sessions must be accompanied by an adult.
Established in 1929, Illinois State's Gamma Phi Circus is the oldest collegiate circus in the United States.
