Illinois State University's Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development will celebrate its 15th anniversary during events on Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29. Events will be held in Room 116 of Illinois State's Alumni Center, 1101 N. Main, Normal.
The achievements of Bloomington-Normal community organizations will be highlighted during an event on May 28, from 3:30 - 5 p.m. Guest speaker for the event will be Amy Lawless of the DuPage County community organizing group DuPage United. Lawless will speak about her experience as a professional organizer with the Industrial Areas Foundation.
At 5 p.m. that evening, a reception will be held to honor Robert W. Hunt, Illinois State professor emeritus of political science. Hunt was instrumental in establishing the University's Peace Corps Fellows Program and has played an active role in the work of the Stevenson Center during the past fifteen years.
The Stevenson Center Student Workshop will take place on May 29, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The workshop will include panel discussions with local returned Peace Corps volunteers, students completing their domestic professional placements, current students and alumni.
