One dozen student music recitals are scheduled during the first week back after Illinois State University's spring break. All are free and open to the public and will take place in Kemp Recital Hall in the Centennial East building on campus.
Two recitals are scheduled Tuesday evening, March 17. Freshman Raylene Lowe will give a flute recital at 7 p.m. She studies with the School of Music's Kim Risinger, as does Nayoon Choi, who will present a flute recital at 8:30 p.m.
Senior Mallory Alekna will present a double bass recital at noon Saturday, March 21. She studies with William Koehler. Chris Darwell, also a senior, will present a trombone recital at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. He studies with Tom Stark. Senior Julie Gray, a student of Stephen Parsons, will present a trombone recital at 3 p.m., and soprano Candace Dieckow, a junior, will present a voice recital at 6 p.m. She studies with John Koch.
Six performances are scheduled on Sunday, March 22. Graduate student Keera Johnson, will present a clarinet recital at noon. She is a student of David Gresham. Senior Sara Iwinski, a student of Kim Risinger, will present a recital at 3 p.m., followed at 4:30 by soprano Kathleen Kelly's recital. Kelly is a student of Michelle Vought.
Bethany Padgett is a graduate flute student of Risinger who will give her graduate recital at 6 p.m. Another Risinger student, junior Stephanie Melinyshyn, will give her recital at 7:30 p.m. Andrew Israelson, a junior double bass student of William Koehler, will present his recital at 9 p.m.
