Physics Dept. Awards Freshman Merit Scholarships

Illinois State University's Physics Department has awarded eight freshman merit scholarships to recognize outstanding academic work by first year students. 

Matthew Douglas Rendall, son of Doug and Romona Rendall of Winthrop Harbor, received the Fall 2008 Robert D. Young Physics Scholar Award worth $2,000.  Rendell is a graduate of Zion-Benton High School.

Kaitlyn Christine Lunte, daughter of Joann and Lance Lunte of Fairview Heights, received the Fall 2008 Physics Alumni Scholar Award worth $1,500.  Lunte is a graduate of Belleville East High School.

Eric Alan Meier, son of Sherry Meier and Ronald Meier of Normal, received the Fall 2008 Dale M. Shulaw Scholar Award worth $1,000.  Meier is a graduate of University High School.

Devdeep Banerji, son of Mita and Durea S. Banerji of Naperville, received a Fall 2008 Physics Freshman Book Scholar Award worth $500.   Banerji is a graduate of Neuqua Valley High School.

Tom Andrew Galloway, son of Jim and Lynette Galloway of Schaumburg, received a Fall 2008 Physics Freshman Book Scholar Award worth $500.  Galloway is a graduate of Schaumburg High School.

Sara Ann O'Toole, daughter of Mike and Angel O'Toole of Bloomington, received a Fall 2008 Physics Freshman Book Scholar Award worth $500.  O'Toole is a graduate of Crystal Lake Central High School.

Benjamin Joseph Rogers, son of Jean Memken and Michael Rogers of Bloomington, received a Fall 2008 Physics Freshman Book Scholar Award worth $500.  Rogers is a graduate of Normal Community West High School.

Anthony Thomas Tomaras, son of Nikolaos and the late Roselyn Tomaras of Batavia, received a Fall 2008 Physics Freshman Book Scholar Award worth $500.  Tomaras is a graduate of Batavia High School.
