Mary Dyck, assistant professor, Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University, has been named the recipient of the 2009 Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) Gerontological Nursing Research Section New Investigator Award.
The award recognizes the contributions of a new investigator who has conducted nursing research which has the potential to enhance the science and practice of gerontological nursing. Dyck will be presented with a plaque during the Gerontological Nursing Research Section meeting held in conjunction with the MNRS annual meeting March 27-30, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Dyck's research focuses on the quality of care in nursing homes and administrative systems to enhance nursing care for older adults. Her nationally-recognized research efforts have been supported by grant funding and fellowships from the National Institutes of Health, the John A. Hartford Foundation and the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
"Dr. Dyck's research was most recently recognized at the university level with her receipt of the University Research Initiative Award," said Sara Campbell, interim dean at Mennonite College of Nursing. "The MNRS award takes that recognition one step further to the regional level, which is outstanding. Dr. Dyck's work has great potential for impacting client outcomes across the nation."
