Date: 3/27/09

Contact: Marc Lebovitz

Illinois State University's Community School for the Arts is offering private classical music lessons on the instruments of the orchestra, band and piano, voice and classical guitar beginning in May. Two six-week sessions are available for children entering first grade through senior citizens.

Sessions begin the week of May 17 and the week of June 28. Students may enroll for one or both sessions which include six ½-hour ($90/session) or one-hour ($132/session) lessons. Half-hour lessons are recommended for young students and beginners.

Lesson days and times are arranged at a mutually agreeable time between the student and the instructor. Instructors are current Illinois State undergraduate and graduate music majors who have been selected by the music faculty. Lessons are held on-campus in the Old Union Building (for all instruments except percussion) and Cook Hall (percussion only). Students are required to have a practice instrument at home. Additional information may be obtained by calling 438-3566.
