BOT Approves Naming of the Carl E. Kasten Alumni Association Board Room

Illinois State University's Board of Trustees today approved the naming of the Carl E. Kasten Alumni Association Board Room in recognition of his contribution and commitment to the University.

Kasten has served as a distinguished alumnus, member of the Board of Regents, founding member of the Board of Trustees and mentor to many students and staff.  He was secretary of the Board of Trustees for more than seven years and board chairman for nearly five years.

Kasten graduated from Illinois State in 1966 with a degree in social sciences education.  While at the University, he was president of the Student Senate.  Kasten earned his J.D. from Northwestern University, and he is a partner in the Carlinville law firm, Phelps, Kasten, Ruyle, Burns and Sims, P.C.  He was named to the Illinois State University College of Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame in 2006 and is a current member of the Politics and Government Attorneys Advisory Council.  Kasten has also remained active with the Alumni Association, serving on the Board of Directors and as liaison from the Board of Trustees.
