Pianists Paul Borg and Tuyen Tonnu of Illinois State University's School of Music will present a two-piano recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. The recital is part of the Charles Bolen Faculty Recital Series. Admission is $6 for the general public, $5 for faculty and staff and $4 for students and senior citizens.
Their program will consist of two pieces. The first is a four-hand arrangement of Igor Stravinsky's ballet music for "Petruska," originally written for an orchestra. The composition is both musical and athletically challenging because portions of the work require the pianists to entwine their arms to perform on the single keyboard.
The second piece is Bela Bartok's Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion. Percussion faculty member David Collier and one of his students will assist in performing the Bartok masterwork.
