McHale's Documentary Film Picture This Shown Jan. 21

The documentary film, Picture This: A Fight to Save Joe, directed and produced by Illinois State University Associate Professor of Communication John McHale and narrated by actor Danny Glover, will be shown on Wednesday Jan. 21, in Schroeder Hall Room 138 at 7:30 p.m.  The screening is sponsored by Illinois State's American Democracy Project and is free and open to the public.

Picture This deals with the public fight to halt the execution of Joe Amrine, a Missouri man on death row for a murder, despite there being neither witnesses nor evidence against him.  The film helped bring public and legal attention to Amrine's case.  Amrine's death sentence was overturned by the Missouri Supreme Court in 2002.
