The fifth annual Long-Term Care Career Fair will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom. The event is co-sponsored by the Expanding Teaching Nursing Home Project at Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University and the Student Nurses Association.
Exhibitors representing long-term care facilities and agencies supporting the care of older adults will be in attendance at the career fair. The event is intended to encourage nursing students to consider careers in long-term care, and as an opportunity for long-term care facilities to recruit nursing employees. The focus of this year's career fair will be on gerontological nurse practitioners and how their expertise enhances the quality of care older adults receive.
Professional seminars on gerontological nursing care will also be presented from 1-3 p.m. Ginger Rogers, a gerontological nurse practitioner with Evercare, will present "Gerontological Nurse Practitioners in Long Term Care" in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room. Joanne Miller, a faculty member at Rush University College of Nursing, will present "Gerontological Sensitive Physical Assessment" in the Bone Student Center Circus Room. The sessions are open to nursing professionals and students at no cost. For more information contact Charlene Aaron at (309) 438-7116.
