The first Global Review of the semester at Illinois State University, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, will be titled "What Barack Obama Needs to Know About Intelligence" and will feature Melvin Goodman, a former CIA and State Department analyst on Russian Affairs.
The event, which is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters, ISU International House and the Global Review Student Association, will take place in the Old Main Room of Bone Student Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
Goodman is the author of two books, "Bush League Diplomacy: How the Neoconservatives are Putting the Nation At Risk" and "Failure of Intelligence: the Decline and Fall of the CIA." A former professor of international security studies and chairman of the international relations department at the National War College, Goodman currently teaches international relations at Johns Hopkins University. He has appeared on the PBS program "The News Hour with Jim Lehrer" as well as numerous television and radio shows.
