Date: 2/11/09

Contact: Kathy Beal

Illinois State University's Ken Fansler is the 2009 recipient of the Williams Outstanding Technology Service Award established by David and Kay Williams.  The award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the University in the area of technology and service.

Ken Fansler has served as the director of technology services for the College of Education for 14 years. He has overseen the expansion of technology services beyond traditional tech support to cutting-edge teaching, learning and communications technology-enriched initiatives that enhance the college's strategic plan. Fansler has mentored technology support staff to achieve leadership roles within his division and across campus.

Faculty and staff in the college are quick to note that Fansler strategically and positively influences teacher education and, by extension, K-12 education by expanding faculty members' and students' understanding of effective teaching and learning in web-enabled contexts.
