BOT Approves Student Health/Food Service Contracts

Illinois State University's Board of Trustees approved the student insurance contract with Aetna Student Health and the prime food vendor contract with US Food Services.

Aetna Student Health was formerly named The Chickering Group and is the present carrier of the student health contract.  No benefit changes were made and the rate will be held for the third consecutive year.  The student health insurance rate for fall 2009 and spring 2010 will be $161 per semester and $116 for the summer 2010 session.

After evaluating alternate sources for food purchasing, Illinois State has elected to join The Illinois Public Higher Education Cooperative and contract with US Food Services starting July 1 and continuing through June 30, 2017, for up to $9 million annually.
