Jeff Wood, interim dean of Illinois State University's College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) has been selected to receive the Honorary American Degree by the National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Organization. The award is the FFA's highest honorary degree.
Wood, who is also a professor in Illinois State's Department of Agriculture, was selected for the award by the National FFA board of directors, based on his record of exceptional service to agriculture and agriculture education. The award will be officially presented to Wood at the 81st annual National FFA convention in Indianapolis on Oct. 24.
During his nearly two decades at Illinois State, Wood has received numerous awards for excellence in agriculture education. He currently serves on the Governor's Committee on Agricultural Education and is a past recipient of the USDA Award for Excellence in University Teaching in the Food and Agricultural Sciences for the North Central Region.
