Illinois State University retained its third tier ranking for the seventh year while improving in several rating categories, according to newly-released data from U.S. News and World Report.
Figures released Thursday show Illinois State made improvements in the sub-categories of Acceptance Rate, Six-Year Graduation Rate, Percent of Classes of 50 or More and Percent of Classes Under 20. Rankings are based on academic quality and excellence. Factors include assessment by administrators at peer institutions, student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance.
"Illinois State improved in several categories that are very important to students, potential students and the parents who make such a substantial investment in higher education," President Al Bowman said. "Our graduation rate continues to improve, we have fewer classes with 50 or more students and more classes with fewer than 20 students, all of which creates a better learning environment."
