Art Instructor, Recent Grad Wins Ceramics Award in Taiwan

School of Art instructor Joe Madrigal, who completed his master of fine arts degree in ceramics from Illinois State University in May, has been awarded the Bronze Prize in the 2008 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale at the Yingge County Ceramics Museum in Taipei, Taiwan. He was awarded a cash prize and expenses-paid trip to Taiwan for the ceremony where he also presented his work, titled "Dumpling No. 3."

Madrigal has his bachelor of fine arts degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Last year he received the Kiln God Award from the Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Maine.  Also last year, he participated in the Feats of Clay XX show in Lincoln, Calif.; Two by Two biennial at Eastern Washington University's Gallery of Art and a collaborative show with Amber Ginsburg at Transpace Gallery in Normal.
