The way the story goes, Steve Ettlinger's young daughter asked him "what is polysorbate 60?" Ettlinger did not know, but endeavored to find out. He found the answer and much more, and he will discuss his exploration of artificial food ingredients at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, when he speaks in the Brown Ballroom of Bone Student Center at Illinois State University.
Ettlinger, the author of "Twinkie Deconstructed," will appear free and open to the public, sponsored by the University Program Board. His program is called "An eye-opening journey into the ingredients found in common processed foods."
Ettlinger's program is intended to inspire audiences to find out more about the local and whole food movements, relate science to our everyday experience and encourage everyone to look at processed food in a very different light. The program includes a multimedia presentation and will be followed by a question and answer session and book signing.
