"Sustainable Urbanism: Urban Design with Nature" will be the topic of a presentation by Doug Farr on Monday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room. The event is free and open to the public. Farr's presentation is part of Illinois State University's Science and Technology Week.
Farr will hold a book signing at Babbitt's Books, 119 E. Beaufort St., Normal, from 5:30 - 7 p.m., prior to his presentation.
Farr is president and CEO of Farr Associates, a Chicago-based sustainable urbanism and architecture firm. An award winning planner and architect, as well as a national leader in sustainability, Farr is a board member of the Congress of the New Urbanism, serves on the BioRegional Development Group board of directors, and was the founding chair of the US Green Building Council's LEED for Neighborhood Development project.
Farr's recent book, Sustainable Urbanism: Urban Design with Nature, is a comprehensive introduction to sustainable urbanism, a design reform movement that combines walkable and diverse spaces with green infrastructure and buildings.
