The 2009 Student Annual art exhibition at Illinois State University will open on April 14 and run through May 9 in the University Galleries in the Center for the Visual Arts. Admission is free and open to the public, although donations will be accepted.
The opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14.
For 25 years, the Student Annual has been one of the galleries' most popular and well-attended exhibitions, featuring a wide range of media. The artworks submitted and displayed reflect the changing concerns and trends of the art world at large. Jurors for this year's exhibition were Stephanie Brooks of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Chicago freelance designer and art director Keir Davis.
The exhibition awards to be announced at the reception except for the Marshall Dulaney Pitcher Award, which this year honors BFA student Mary Laube with a one-person exhibition running concurrently with the Student Annual. The award was endowed in 1970 by the family of Marshall Pitcher.
