Hypertext and fiction author Michael Joyce, who is co-chair of Vassar College's English department, will speak on "Authorship as Re-placement" at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the University Galleries at Illinois State University.
Joyce's appearance, presented by the English Studies Lecture Series, is free and open to the public. A reception and book signing will follow his presentation.
Joyce is the author of "afternoon, a story," which is considered to be one of the first hypertext fictions. Hypertext fiction is electronic literature that includes hypertext links which allow readers to choose links that influence the direction of the story.
The English Studies Lecture Series, sponsored by the English department and organized by the Professional Growth Committee, brings national, international and regional writers and scholars to campus each year who address aspects of interdisciplinary conversations fostered by all the subfields of English Studies and related disciplines. The series is designed to promote cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural dialogue.
