Barbara Ainsworth will present "Physical Activity: Moving from 'Just
Doing It' to 'Living It'" as the 2006 Esther Larson McGinnis Scholar
Lecture, sponsored by Illinois State University's School of Kinesiology and
Recreation.
Ainsworth will speak Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room. The event is free and open to the public.
Ainsworth is a professor in the Department of Exercise and Wellness at Arizona State University. Her research on physical activity and public health focuses on the assessment of physical activity in various populations, physical activity in women and minority populations and on identifying neighborhood environmental supports for physical activity.
Financial support for the lecture series is provided by the Esther Larson McGinnis Fund. The fund is named in honor of the late 1946 graduate who willed a portion of her estate to the University to support women's physical education.
