B.B. King in Concert at Braden Nov. 10

Date: 11/3/06
Contact: Marc Lebovitz

No matter that he turned 81 years old on Sept. 16, blues legend B.B. King, will appear at Illinois State University's Braden Auditorium at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, as part of his 80th Birthday Celebration Tour. Tickets range from $37.50 to $67.50 and are available at the Bone Student Center box office or by calling (309) 448-5444.

Widely considered one of the greatest blues musicians in the world, King won his first Grammy Award in 1970 and his 14th earlier this year. In 1987 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which produces the Grammy Awards Show. Among his classic hits are "The Thrill is Gone," "Payin' The Cost To Be The Boss," "Everyday I Have The Blues," "You Don't Know Me" and "Why I Sing The Blues."

Just one day after King's concert, Circus Nexus will bring its dance/theatre/circus fusion production "Rites and Rituals" to Braden at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Tickets are $37 at the box office.

"Rites and Rituals" is described by director/choreographer Christopher Fleming as taking place on a ceremonial site of ancient but advanced civilization where feats of skill, magic and transformation occur. The production features a cast of talented dancers, actors and circus performers from around the world, including Argentina, Australia, Colombia, England, Japan, Russia and the United States.
