Illinois State University s Tour Reed was named Outstanding
Minority Faculty Member at the annual Dean of Student s Office Diversity
Advocacy recognition ceremony.
Reed, an assistant professor of History, received his doctorate from Columbia University and has taught African American History at Illinois State since 2001. He serves as the faculty advisor to Illinois State s Black Graduate Student Association and the College Democrats.
The recipient of the College of Arts and Sciences Teaching Initiative Award last year, Reed has worked in conjunction with the Umoja Student Development Corporation and Chicago s Manley High School to recruit minority students to Illinois State.
