Illinois State University s Board of Trustees authorized five items
and recognized outgoing Student Trustee Brett Schnepper.
The Board authorized the University to use funds from internal allocations until the Board approves the FY2008 operating budget at their July meeting.
The Trustees approved an increase to $575,000 in FY2007 and $600,000 in FY2008 for pharmaceuticals. The University has a 10-year contract with HD Smith for pharmaceuticals at the Student Health Services pharmacy. The pharmacy will release unused funds from the FY2007 Ortho-McNeil and Pharmedix orders to purchase pharmaceuticals with HD Smith in order to minimize costs.
The Board approved a three-year agreement with Midwest Higher Education Compact for property insurance for an amount up to $650,000. Illinois State is part of the Illinois Public Higher Education Cooperative, a purchasing consortium that includes all Illinois state universities and colleges, which in 2002 joined the MHEC property program. The FY2008 property insurance premium for Illinois State could exceed $500,000, which requires Board authority.
The Trustees authorized University administration to conclude negations with vendors for a multi-year contract for elevator maintenance and emergency support through 2010 for up to $2.2 million. The University has 91 elevators on campus that require regular repair and maintenance through a contract which expires in June. The final vendor will be chosen based on cost, services, references, local presence, supply and inventory capabilities and value-added services.
The Board authorized University administration to conclude the purchase of a new color digital press with supplies and support. The contract will not exceed $900,000 over a five-year period.
Outgoing Student Trustee Brett Schneeper received the Board of Trustee s appreciation for his service on the Board.
