The Caryl Churchill play Vinegar Tom, a feminist revision of witchcraft trials in 17th-century England, will open Wednesday, March 28, in Illinois State University s Westhoff Theatre. The play is directed by Assistant Professor Debbie Alley of the School of Theatre.

The play will be presented March 28 to 31 at 7:30 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinees on March 31 and April 1. The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for the general public, $9 for ISU faculty-staff, $8 for senior citizens and $6 for students. Tickets are available at the Center for the Performing Arts box office or by calling (309) 438-2535.

In Vinegar Tom, Churchill depicts women who did not fit into society's traditional molds. Prejudices and unfounded accusations gain momentum as woman after woman is put on trial. Past and present blend together and song becomes an integral part of the drama.
