Roslyn McCallister Brock, vice chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) National Board of Directors, will be the keynote speaker at Illinois State University s 2007 Civic Engagement Celebration at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the Prairie Room of Bone Student Center.

The 2007 Civic Engagement Celebration is sponsored by the American Democracy Project and is designed to recognize contributions by students, student organizations, faculty, and staff in nurturing an environment of civic engagement. Awards will be presented at the ceremony to University organizations and faculty/staff who encourage student exploration of social and civic issues, promote student participation in learning activities involving social or political problems, and develop in students a sense of civic commitment.

A Civic Engagement Showcase will display the work of departments and student organizations in their efforts to be civically engaged throughout the year.
