Business Week 2007 Alumni Panelist Presentations, April 5

Managing and serving in the political arena and the challenges of doing business in China will be some of the subjects covered by Illinois State University College of Business alumni panelists on Thursday, April 5. The presentations are part of Illinois State s Business Week 2007, April 2-6.

A panel presentation by five College of Business alumni will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom. Panelists will discuss various aspects of their work in the business world.

That evening at 7:30 p.m., individual alumni presentations, hosted by College of Business student organizations, will be held at various locations in the College of Business Building. All presentations by alumni panelists are free and open to the public.

Jeffrey Cavanaugh 90, business administration, will present Managing and Serving in the Political Arena in Room 132. Cavanaugh is chief of staff to the Under Secretary for International Trade, United States Department of Commerce. He is responsible for the Under Secretary s office operations and is a member of the senior management team of the International Trade Administration, a federal agency with a budget exceeding $400 million and more than 1,800 employees located in more than 80 countries. His visit is being hosted by the International Business Club, Business Administration Club and the M.B.A. Association.

Thriving in a Changing Market or Industry will be the subject of a presentation by Brett Ellis 88, finance, in Room 139. Ellis is a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and a partner in the Ellis Team, based in Ft. Myers, Florida. Using his background in finance to shape business decisions, Ellis has reached the highest levels of professional success and recognition in the real estate industry. Ellis and his family are among the top 50 teams at RE/MAX International and have been listed as one of the top 100 teams by the National Association of Realtors. His visit is being hosted by Pi Sigma Epsilon, the Entrepreneurship Club and Delta Sigma Pi.

Greg Heerde 91, finance; M.S. 93, accounting, will present Insurance Industry Opportunities and Challenges in Room 357. Heerde is senior president of Aon Re Global in Chicago. In his position, Heerde leads the global practice group that delivers rating agency and accounting modeling and consultative services. The team s guidance enables insurance and reinsurance companies to achieve desired Financial Strength Ratings. With offices in 40 countries, Aon Re Global is the world s largest provider of reinsurance brokerage and integrated capital solutions. Heerde s visit is being hosted by Beta Alpha Psi, Student Accounting Society, Gamma Iota Sigma and Toastmasters.

Management Success Building and Leading Successful Teams will be the topic of a presentation by Greg Monigold 91, organizational leadership, in Room 366. Monigold is manager of information systems at Harris Alternatives, in Chicago. Harris Alternatives is a fund-of-funds hedge fund with more than $9 billion in assets under management. Monigold leads a team of developers and network engineers that strive to provide the firm with the finest IT systems and services available. His current responsibilities include process development and strategy planning, talent selection and development and budgeting and project management. His visit is being hosted by the Financial Management Association, Business Information Systems Club, Society for Human Resource Management, Organizational Leadership Club and Sigma Iota Epsilon.

Eileen Ni, M.A. 87, English; M.B.A. 91, will present Opportunities and Challenges of Doing Business in China in Room 368. Ni is division marketing manager and Asia-Pacific sales manager for Adalis Corporation in Vancouver, Washington. Ni is in charge of brand development and marketing communication as well as managing sales in the Asia-Pacific region with a focus on business development in China. Adalis Corporation is a business-to-business company providing packaging solutions to consumer and industrial manufacturers in more than 40 countries. Her visit is being hosted by American Marketing Association, Sports Marketing Student Association, Pi Omega Pi, Beta Gamma Sigma and Delta Sigma Pi.
