Ashley Miller of Normal has been named the 2007 recipient of the
William and Kathleen Bryan Scholarship at Illinois State University.
The Bryan Scholarship, established in 2003, includes a check for $1,000 and is given to graduates of Normal Community High School (NCHS) who are starting their freshman year at Illinois State. Scholarship winners are chosen based on strong academic achievement.
Miller was an Illinois State Scholar and a member of the National Honors Society and Mu Alpha Theta math honors society at NCHS. She plans to major in elementary education.
The scholarship was established through a gift from William and Kathleen Bryan, both graduates of Illinois State. William Bryan is a graduate of Normal Community High School and has been an elementary school teacher in Unit 5 as well as a realtor for Prudential Snyder/Armstrong Realty. Kathleen Bryan is employed at Illinois State s Extended University.
