The Illinois State University Board of Trustee s today approved
Watterson Towers repairs, renewal of student health insurance and a new
campus copier program.
Watterson Towers is in need of repair to the exterior envelope, which will include resealing and replacing the joints between the pre-cast concrete panels. Deterioration of the joints was first repaired starting in 1991 through 2000. The joints flex and move along with the movement of Watterson Towers, and it is critical to prevent moisture penetration damage. The repair construction project, which will cost $6.4 million and be funded from bond revenue reserves, will begin in the summer of 2008 and continue through 2015, with the work done only in the summer.
The Chickering Group will continue to provide student insurance at Illinois State, with the rate approved by the Board set at $161 for fall 2007 and spring 2008 sessions and $116 for summer 2008 session. The renewal rates include a $3 increase for the fall/spring sessions and a $2 increase for summer session.
The Board approved a 40-month agreement with Watts Copy, RK Dixon and Xerox Corporation for a decentralized copier program at a potential cost of $1.2 million. The agreement includes an option to renew annually for an additional six years. The new program will allow individual departments to rent or purchase the copier machines with the latest technologies and options that best meet their specific needs and funding. The contract, which includes service options, will start March 1, with all currently provided machines to be replaced by June 30.
