150th Countdown Celebration, Feb. 14

Live music, horse-drawn carriage rides, a movie and a very early breakfast will be part of the campus 150th Countdown Celebration on Founders Day Eve, February 14th. The events, held at various locations on campus, are free of charge.

Students and community members can test their Illinois State knowledge and compete for a $200 prize at the interactive ThinkFast Game Show, at 7 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom. The band Maggie Speaks will perform at 8:30 p.m. in the Brown Ballroom. For those who prefer movies, the film V for Vendetta will be shown in Capen Auditorium at 8 p.m.

Horse-drawn carriage rides featuring a narrative about historical campus locations will be offered on the Quad between 8-11 p.m. Pick-up and drop-off for the rides will be on the Schroeder Hall Plaza.

At 11:45 p.m., the Countdown Quad Celebration at the Old Main Bell will get underway with Illinois State s male a cappella group, Acafellaz, singing the new University Song, Pride of Illinois. Following the Countdown Quad Celebration, a free breakfast will be served from midnight to 1:50 a.m. in the Student Services Building Room 375.

The 150th Countdown Celebration is sponsored by the University Program Board and the Student Alumni Council.
