“When I was young, someone took the time to help me learn how to use a computer, and from that moment I recognized the need to give back,” Mark Walcott said. “At the end of the day, how can you tell someone ‘no’ when you have the ability to make an impact in their lives.”
Assistant Professor of Sociology Chris Wellin’s research has not only highlighted the challenges facing an aging society, but it has also helped propel the formation of a multidisciplinary network on campus to address these challenges.
The Middle East and South Asia are home to one-fifth of the global population. The cultural history of nations in those areas stretches back for millennia and continues to have a profound impact on world affairs.
In an afternoon filled with colorful banners, flags, costumes and booths, more than 300 community members flocked to the Illinois State University Quad on Aug. 27 for the Festival of India.
