It’s all about the connections. Many know the Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT) as the place to learn all about teaching and technology in higher education. CTLT offers a variety of events, workshops and resources to empower faculty in enhancing their teaching to more effectively facilitate student learning.
Kyle Ciani went to graduate school to study subjects that she felt were not being talked about enough. Her scholarly research is heavily influenced by her own life experiences and by the social issues she witnessed and worked to improve in her career outside academia.
You can claim you have no pre-conceived notions about others, but that is simply not true. Somewhere, on some level, everyone has biases and prejudices. You may not always be conscious of them, but they certainly influence how you interact and communicate with others.
Affinity groups may seem simply a way to bring together underrepresented faculty and staff on campus, yet they provide so much more.
